I'm not aware of any plans but I haven't spoken to Dries in a while.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly! I will reach out to Dries. Are there any plans for implementing permimp in partykit from your side?

No, there is no such transformation available. The internals of party are too different which is why we started from scratch in partykit.

But maybe Dries (the principal author and maintainer of "permimp") has some code for partykit as well. I would recommend that you reach out to him directly. I'm not sure whether he follows this forum.

Is there any way to tranform the model object obtained by the partykit package to a party::RandomForest object? I would like to use the permimp package to get variable importance (https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/permimp/vignettes/permimp-package.html). I know an alternative would be to use the party package directly, but I am using a wrapper to fit my forest so woul prefer not to re-do everything!
