Given that someone recently asked about cross-generational links in another thread in this forum, David suggested that I supplement the presentation attached above with a link to our 2008 MDAN paper.: The Cross-Generational Mother–Daughter–Aunt–Niece Design: Establishing Validity of the MDAN Design with NLSY Fertility Variables (http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs10519-008-9225-0) A more complete list of the (extended) team's research is here: https://github.com/LiveOak/NlsyLinksDetermination/wiki/Articles. |

We had two presentations this year. Here is mine that discusses cross-generational links in the NLSY79 and NLSY79-C. The punch line is we believe there are some BG studies that can benefit from using both generations at the same time. Not only will can sample size grow by 100%, but the amount of links per subject grows by 150%. Additionally, there are some research questions that are addressable *only* if you have multiple generations in the same sample. I'll post David's presentation in the next few days when I find it. |
