RE: Getting environmental variables into the [ Reply ] By: David Zeleny on 2009-05-17 07:21 | [forum:1536] |
Dear Jens, extended head and short header are two things - extended head contains all header data, and during the import of xml file you can import as many (or all) header data from Turboveg as you wish. Short header can store ONLY ONE variable, which will show on the top of JUICE table and can be used for e.g. sorting of releves or separating releves into groups. If you want 1) to store variable from extended head to short header, follow menu Head > Store values to short headers; 2) to add value from short header to extended head, go Head > Add short headers to header data; 3) to import short header separately, go to Import > Short headers, the same is true for extended head (Import > Header data). It's righ that Short header data has to be read everytime the program is restarted, or you just produce some classification, which will overwrite Short header by other information. The best solution is to have all variables stored in Extended head and load it to Short header when needed (and if you produce new Short header data, e.g. diversity indeces or whatever, save it to Extended head). Note that if you open juice table (or import it) and you doubleclick on releve to see species composition (it will open in a stripe on the right side), the extended head won't show up in this strip; if you click on the Face button in the menu, you will see extended head for each releve - then you click on Face button again and click on releve - and the extended head will append under the list of species on the right side stripe. Not sure why this is happening, but it may be confusing. Was it helpful? All the best David |
Getting environmental variables into the head [ Reply ] By: Jens Oldeland on 2009-04-28 10:02 | [forum:1465] |
Dear Juice-Users, me, and many of my colleagues, would be glad if anyone could explain us a great mystery; how to efficently get environmental data from an XLS file into the head and to use them in juice as well as for the wonderful new ordijuice tool. some people told me it is only possible to store only one variable (??), or that only one decimal place is allowed and that variables have to be read in each time the program is restarted. You see, a lot of mythology around. Myself was not able to follow the short part of the manual :( And...is the extended head the same as the short header? many questions, sorry for that all the best, Jens |
