SuiteSparse 5.X support

Detailed description
Do you guys have plans to use the newer SuiteSparse versions to build Matrix in the near future? Turns out that CHOLMOD in SS4 had some hard limits on memory allocation which got upgraded a bit in SS5, and some of the work that we're doing at my institute requires really large sparse and sometimes dense matrix operations (including optimizations), and CHOLMOD errors out because of that bounded limit. (However, our memory profile shows that the memory usage is definitely not hit).

Any thoughts?

Nafis

Note that the R-forge version of Matrix, 1.3.0 (not yet on CRAN), now has been updated to SuiteSparse 5.7.1, ca. 4 weeks ago (r3331 | mmaechler | 2020-04-30 13:44:44 +0200).

I'd be grateful if you can check and use this version of Matrix whereever possible.

The reason it's not on CRAN yet, is with some (reverse) dependent packages need to be adapted to a small (but clearly improvement) "API" (*undocumented*, hence strictly not API) change in Matrix(*, doDiag=.) behavior; see first entry in `New Features` in the NEWS file.
