Summary:
is.nan() support?

Detailed description
For Matrix objects, is.na() is defined, but there's no is.nan() to differentiate between NA and NaN values.
Could is.nan() support be added?

I've added is.nan() in r3647, to be included in Matrix > 1.5-1.

I agree that we should have is.nan(). The methods would be completely parallel to the ones we already have for is.infinite(), and therefore "trivial" to implement. I can work on this, though not in time for the forthcoming release of Matrix 1.4-2.
