Forum: vegan 2.0-1 on CRAN
Posted by: Jari Oksanen
Content: Version 2.0-1 of vegan was published today on CRAN.The immediate reason for the release was that R 2.14.0 will be released soon, and vegan will give a lot of annoying warnings in R 2.14.0. The sd() function will no longer accept matrix input in R 2.14.0 and vegan was adapted to this change. There are also some minor bug fixes in meandist(), metaMDS(), permatswap() and permutest() for cca() objects. The 2.0-1 release will contain two new functions: clamtest() implements a test to classify species to habitat specialists and generalists (CLAM of Chazdon et al., Ecology 92, 1332-1343; 2011), and raupcrick() implements a version of Raup-Crick dissimilarity where species co-occurrence probabilities are based on species frequencies (Chase et al. (2011) _Ecosphere_ 2:art24). |

Ariella, Sorry for not responding earlier: R-Forge does not alert developers on comments on the NEWS items, and I noticed only now your comment. I cannot test this problem (all works with me), but this may be caused by the way R-Forge builds package binaries for MacOS: it assumes that users have Fortran installed in their Macs. Usually there is no Fortran in Mac, and this triggers the error. See R for MacOS FAQ question 5.4 to solve this problem. I just wrote a web page on the issue: see http://vegan.r-forge.r-project.org/FAQ-R-Forge.html (the page should be available within a couple of hours after the time of this message). Hi, I am trying to install and load the package vegan so that I can use vegdist() to get a Jaccard Similarity Coefficient. When I type in install.package("vegan") it works fine but then I type library(vegan) it keeps telling me Error in get(Info[i, 1], envir = env) : internal error -3 in R_decompress1 Error: package/namespace load failed for ‘vegan’ I have installed the package permute and can't seem to figure out what to do inorder to get the vegan package. Please advise, or if anyone knows a different way of calculating the Jaccard Similarity Coefficient. Thanks! Ariella |
