Last weekend, the Matrix package has been moved, including it's long subversion history, from
svn.r-project.org to r-forge.r-project.org.

(The move has been far from trivial because of the intricate intimate historical relations between 'Matrix' and 'lme4').

We have recently announced that we consider the current versions "beta" for Matrix 1.0-0.
Furthermore, there are plans for Matrix to become a "Recommended" R package, hopefully for R 2.8.0 and later.
